CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Whether you are new-to-yoga or

experienced and looking for a place

to grow your skills, we've got you covered.

Why Vinyasa?

Vinyasa, is commonly referred to as the yoga where we "link movement with breath".  (From the sanskrit "nyasa" meaning "to place" and "vi" meaning "in a special way".)  On a deeper level, there is a philosophy behind vinyasa.

Moving from pose to pose underscores the temporary nature of everything.  This is the only time ever you will have this moment.  It is the only time you will get to live this life--it's not a dress rehearsal.

Instead of trying to hold on or get "attached" to it, enjoy it fully--like a sunset--and then let it go.  The fact life is short makes it that much sweeter and precious and is a reminder to focus on what's most important to you.

About the term "Levels"

Yoga is cyclical, not linear. This means you don’t progress from one level to another, but instead keep coming back to the same place with new understanding.

We use the term “Level” to indicate a few things:

  • What each class is like in relation to the other classes on our schedule.
  • How much strength, flexibility, balance and endurance is necessary.
  • How familiar with the postures you need to be.
  • How much skill and awareness is required.

Levels vary from one studio to another. We put a lot of time and effort to clarify what our levels are. Choose a level that is appropriate and reasonable for you, instead of just choosing the best time that works—you’ll enjoy the practice more.

Everyone in a class works hard—that work looks different for everyone.

Two people doing Tadasana, mountain pose, are experiencing it entirely different. This is why people of various abilities and experiences can practice together—because everyone does their own work.

"It is better to do you own work, poorly, than another’s well." Bhagavad Gita 3.35.

Vinyasa Foundational Flow

Beginner-Friendly | Grow your skills

If you are new to yoga and want to learn the basics, cultivate strength, flexibility and balance, in a safe, accessible class--this is where to start.

If you have been practicing for years, and want a class that focuses on simple postures and a slower pace--this is your class.

Vinyasa Foundational Flow is a foundational class that is simple, but not easy.  It is designed to teach the practice of yoga from the ground up, AND be a class you can do for the rest of your life.

There is more repetition and creative ways of introducing the body movements of the postures.  It is challenging and fun to slow down.

Vinyasa Next Level Flow

Form & Flow

We choose an approach to vinyasa that is done with skill, intention and love.  It is a balance of shape and refinement with rhythm and soul.

Our Vinyasa Next Level Flow classes unfold in the moment and are truly responsive to what is going on in the room. Yet, they are informed by specific work—a chosen posture, thematic element or peak vinyasa.

The effect is one of spontaneity, freedom and joy coupled with choices that build and support one another.

Our style of vinyasa meets you where you are, as each person in the room affects the pace of class, postures selected and cues offered.

We believe vinyasa needs to be challenging so that you can do your work and face what is there. At the same time it should be accessible and never overwhelming so that you have the opportunity to engage and reveal the true intent of yoga—to know yourself.

You will be moved, cared for, and loved.

Candlelight Yin

Deeply Soothing

There's something warm and calming about candlelight. It's organic and primitive and helps soothe your soul while allowing for a different kind of focus to come forth.

The practice of Yin is inviting to all--whether you are brand new to the practice or have decades of experience.

Yin works deeper connective tissues by staying in postures a longer time, in a gentle way.  Both qualities have a calming effect on the nervous system and offer you the chance to let go of long held tension.

This is the perfect complement to active style yoga classes, as well as active lifestyles.

Yoga Sculpt & Tone

Yoga & Strength

In this class, we're not just busting out reps but consciously focusing on the mind and body to feel where the movements are focused.  The added resistance makes those connections more apparent.

Designed from the ground up, Yoga Sculpt & Tone will give you a full-body workout.

We've taken into account a conscious warm-up & cool-down and made the pace accessible.  Next, we honed the breathing offered to be supportive.

Then, of course, we injected our characteristic charisma into it.

It's yoga first and foremost because is not only what we are doing but HOW we are doing it.  For those who have a regular asana practice, it will feel familiar.
